The meeting convened at 2:00 p.m. All members of the Steering Committee
were present.
The Steering Committee decided to tentatively focus the efforts of the
CMI on the following areas:
Biological Systems
Modeling Materials Properties and Processes
Visualization
High Performance Infrastructure.
The next meeting of the Steering Committee will be scheduled so as to
enable us to meet with Heather Jacobson and Sharon Jackiw to discuss the
above areas of focus.
The Steering Committee will reach out to all members of the University
Community who might be interested in participating.
The Steering Committee will work out bylaws along with the members over
the course of the Fall Semester.
The Steering Committee will organize a campus-wide meeting of the CMI
for early in the Fall semester.
The Steering Committee authorized the following committees to begin
working:
The Seminar Committee to be chaired by Ray Fort and assisted by David
Batuski.
The Education Committee to be chaired by Susan McKay and assisted by
Bill Bray, David Bradley and Jim Fastook.
George Markowsky will begin drafting a report giving more
background on the CMI. This report will include a list of grants
that are being pursued by current CMI members. This report
will be updated as new members join the CMI.
